The pulsating night markets of Bangkok are a lively piece of local culture that must be experienced after dark. You can find everything from amazing local street food to niche vintage stuff and the lively bars with creative cocktails and live music. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy Thailand’s capital after sunset. Whether you want to just score on some cheap clothes for your journeys further, taste real Thai food, or just hang out, enjoy the scene and make new friends, these markets offer it all. This guide is here to help you find the best night markets in the city according to your preference- from popular spots like the Jodd Fairs and Patpong to hidden treasures like Hua Mum and the Indy Market. Each with its own vibe and things you have to try.

Pratunam Night Market is one of the oldest running night markets right in the heart of Bangkok. It starts off as a typical Bangkok street during the day but then transforms into a lively market once the sun goes down, with vendors all setting up their stalls.

The market mainly attracts tourists - especially those staying at the nearby Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Here you’ll find an array of stalls selling souvenirs, clothes, accessories, and local Thai snacks. After reopening with only a few stalls back in late 2022, the market has since bounced back and has returned to its usual buzz.

If you get there before 8:00 pm, it’s worth it if you can take a quick walk to the Platinum Mall, where one can enjoy some authentic Thai street food.

  • Location: QG3Q+CV Bangkok, Thailand

  • Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 11:30 PM every day

  • Nearest BTS Station: Chit Lom (1.6 km, around a 20 - 25 min walk)

  • The Pratunam Wholesale Market runs in the morning, while the night market stalls will set up later in the evening.

A more casual/chilled evening at the biggest weekend market in the world.

  • A nice quieter alternative to the busy weekend crowd at Bangkok’s famous market.

  • Not all the shops are open, but it’s perfect for the laid-back shopping vibe.

The Chatuchak Weekend (day) Market is massive, with over 15,000 stalls and up to 300,000 visitors each day. It’s mainly open on weekends, attracting people eager to check out everything from art, to antiques, vintage items, souvenirs, clothes and jewelry. Most stalls are closed on Fridays, but some are open from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. This makes for a much quieter experience, where you can look around without the usual weekend hustle. While lots of tourists know about the Chatuchak weekend market, not everyone realizes it opens on Friday nights.

If you just want to simply browse, there are plenty of street food vendors offering tasty snacks.

If art interests you, Friday evenings are great since the art section is open. After you experience the art, you can hang out at one of the snazzy bars in the market with a creative cocktail or a cold beer. There are also several street food stalls operating on Friday evenings, so you can grab a bite to eat there too.

  • While Friday Night Market doesn’t offer everything you’d find on the weekends, it’s a great choice if you want to steer clear of the busy crowds. Then or the full shopping experience, hit the Chatuchak Market on a Saturday or Sunday, but if you want to avoid peak times, try coming in the late afternoon.

  • Location: RH22+J9 Bangkok, Thailand - Just next to Mo Chit BTS Station makes it easy to get to Chatuchak Weekend Market by BTS.

  • Opening Hours: Friday: 6 PM – 11 PM, Saturday & Sunday: 9 AM – 6 PM

  • Nearest BTS Station: BTS Mo Chit Station

Once can find all kinds of goods here, from souvenirs and handicrafts to clothes and home decor. Plus, there’s a fantastic assortment of street food and drinks to enjoy. Even though it’s situated in Bangkok’s red-light district, Patpong Night Market is safe and welcoming for everyone, including families.

  • Location: PGHJ+HM Bangkok, Thailand

  • Opening Hours: 6:00 pm – 1:00 am daily

  • Nearest BTS Station: BTS Sala Daeng Station

This is perhaps the most popular night market in Bangkok.

  • It’s situated in a central spot that’s easy to reach.
  • There’s a ton of food and drink choices.
  • Both locals and tourists love it here.
  • If you want a lively market vibe, Jodd Fairs is a perfect choice.

When you’re thinking about night markets in Bangkok, Jodd Fairs is a definite go-to option. This trendy market attracts a younger crowd and has more than just food. Here one can find clothes, fresh produce, furniture, and souvenirs. The edges are packed with food options - everything from quick snacks to full meals. There’s also a communal eating area, making it a fun place to relax, catch up and enjoy a meal with friends or some new faces.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the Ratchada Train Night Market was the place to be for everyone. It then had to shut down when tourism dropped, but once things opened up again, it has since relocated and transformed into Jodd Fairs.

Although the vibrant tents from the old market are gone, and now replaced by simpler white ones, the quality and variety of what you find here has improved significantly. Many favorite stalls from Ratchada still serve up the familiar flavors, and there are of course new vendors to check out, bringing their own unique offerings.

With over 600 food vendors, you’ll definitely find something here to hit the spot. Unlike the old Ratchada market, which used to have a really loud bar scene, the Jodd Fairs offers a more relaxed and laid back atmosphere, making it great for everyone and of course families. But if you’re looking for some of the old entertainment, there are still bars with live music to enjoy until late.

You can easily get to Jodd Fairs as it’s right behind Central Plaza Grand Rama 9 mall. Just take the MRT to Phra Ram 9 station, and it’s then just a short walk from there.

  • Location: QH9C+8F Bangkok, Thailand - Exit 4 from Thai Cultural Centre MRT Station, then walk towards Big C.
  • Opening Hours: 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM daily
  • Nearest MRT Station: Thai Cultural Centre.

This is the go-to place to hit up before you dive into Bangkok’s nightlife.

  • It’s bigger than Jodd Fairs, with a lively atmosphere and loads of street food.

  • It’s a great spot to grab some drinks before heading out.

The One Ratchada is now situated in the same spot where the old Ratchada Train Night Market used to be. Although it’s run by a new team that’s not connected to Jodd Fairs or Srinakarin.

One main thing that sets The One apart from Jodd Fairs is its size. iIt’s definitely bigger, but… size isn’t everything. There’s still a good amount of street food to try, though it might not be as varied as what one would find at Jodd Fairs or the old market. But, the food quality here is just as good, and many people find the offerings at The One Ratchada really tasty.

Besides the food, The One Ratchada is a great place to shop, just take note that it doesn’t have a vintage section like Srinakarin. Besides that, here’s what you’ll like:

  • The bigger space means you can wander around without feeling too crowded.

  • It’s modern and well-organized, keeping up with Jodd Fairs for quality.

  • The vibe is fun, offering affordable drinks and live music or EDM. The One Ratchada aims to give off that familiar pre-nightlife feel, and it does a pretty good job at doing so.

  • Location: QH89+RF Bangkok, Thailand

  • Opening Hours: 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM daily.

  • Nearest MRT Station: Thailand Cultural Centre MRT Station

When one thinks about night markets in Bangkok, there’s one spot that always stands out as a hidden treasure: The Hua Mum Night Market. If you’re after a very authentic vibe, then don’t miss out on this.

  • It’s got street food that’s truly local and not completely overrun by tourists taste buds.

  • Most of the crowd here are actually local Thais, which gives it that genuine feel.

Now, it might not be as big as the famous spots like Srinakarin or Chatuchak, but if you really want to soak up local culture, Hua Mum is a must. You’ll find arrays of delicious street food, drinks, shopping, and even some live music. Although it might not be as flashy as the Chang Chui Plane Night Market or on the other hand as neatly laid out as Jodd Fairs, but then, that’s part of its charm.

The market is located in Lat Phrao, which is situated a bit north of the city center, and away from the touristy areas. If you want a real look at how people in Bangkok spend their nights, this is definitely the destination for you.

At Hua Mum, you won’t be short of options when it comes to shopping either! There’s a massive selection of goods, from trendy clothes to some unique accessories. If you’re on the hunt for anything special, you’ll likely find it here.

Though it once flew under the radar, now more and more people from outside Thailand are learning about Hua Mum. But even with a little more attention, it still sticks to its roots, with local folks dominating the scene. Many tourists still lean towards Jodd Fairs or Srinakarin for their market experience.

  • Location: RJGG+9X Bangkok, Thailand

  • Opening Hours: 5:00 pm – 1:00 am daily

  • Nearest MRT Station: MRT Lat Phrao Station

A local night market with some great bars

  • A trendy spot that’s mostly for locals

  • Good food, unique goods, and bars with live Thai music

Indy Night Market is situated just south of Thonburi, across the river from the busy tourist spots in Bangkok. It’s a vibrant place with a mix of street food, local crafts, fashion, and other accessories, giving you a real taste of the local scene without the tourists. Find container-style bars and restaurants, creating a relaxed vibe where you can enjoy drinks, music, hang out with friends, or meet new ones.

The market is mostly visited by locals, so it’s not usually on the tourist map since it’s in a residential area. But if you’re looking for a genuine local experience, Indy Night Market is a fantastic pick.

The food options are exciting, with everything from street snacks to sit-down stalls. The market leans toward the local favorites, serving up authentic Thai dishes - octopus heads. If that sounds a bit too adventurous, you can always opt for something classic like a seafood barbecue.

One of the best parts of the market is the bar area. After checking out the stalls, you can kick back with a cold beer or a creative cocktail and enjoy live music. The vibe here is different from others like The One Ratchada, since the crowd here is mostly Thai and you’ll get to enjoy live Thai music!

Like many night markets, the shops are mostly situated in the middle, while bars and eateries are on the edges. It may not be as large as Srinakarin, but Indy Night Market is modern, clean, and spacious, making it a great place to hang out regularly.

If you’re near the riverside in Bangkok, checking out Indy Night Market is a fantastic idea. The easiest way to reach it is by taking the BTS to Talat Phlu Station and then grabbing a taxi/Grab/Bolt. Getting there can be a bit tricky, but it’s a new spot that’s definitely worth the effort!

Nearest BTS Station: Talat Phlu (5.1 km, about a 11-minute drive)

Srinagarindra Train Night Market (Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin)

Section titled “Srinagarindra Train Night Market (Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin)”

Vintage, Antiques, and an Abundance of Food!

Run by the same organization behind Jodd Fairs, this retro-style Bangkok night market (Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin) is a must-see for anyone new to Bangkok. Vintage train carriages and bright lights giving it a unique feel, with antiques, retro items, and nostalgic décor, including an old propeller aircraft and classic cars. it’s great if you want something interesting and different from the usual tourist spots.

Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin feels special as it mixes the old and new with a lively but timeless atmosphere. Although it appears small from the outside, it’s huge once you’re in. With tons of shops and places to eat, people come here for shopping, eating, hanging out, admiring one of the biggest collections of vintage cars and just relaxing.

This market isn’t about normal souvenirs. It’s retro-themed, with:

  • Vintage items such as art, arrays of antiques, clothes, and collectibles.
  • Retro classic cars such as restored VW vans and old trucks.
  • Food trucks, Tattoo parlours and barber shops.
  • Also the modern items like clothes, shoes, and electronics. The sellers are easy going, they don’t haggle you and the prices are quite decent. If you love food, you’ll love this market as well.

Compared to the busy Jodd Fairs, Srinakarin has a much more relaxed vibe, it’s bigger and attracts more locals, which means you get a more genuine Thai experience instead of a touristy one.

Upon arrival, the first thing you’ll notice are the street food stalls by the entrance. As you walk further in, you’ll encounter all sorts of vendors selling clothes, accessories, souvenirs, and gadgets. The best part of it - the vintage section. It’s filled with retro shops in revamped old buildings.

If you get hungry, visit the outer areas where there are restaurants, set up in unique spots like shipping containers or old brick buildings. At the back of the market, there are some fantastic classic cars, including oldtimers and hotrods, along with even more vintage shops.

  • Ensure you arrive after 7:00 pm on weekends for the best experience.

  • A one-of-a-kind market offering exceptional (slightly upscale) food and drinks

  • A unique atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Thailand

Chang Chui Plane Night Market is more than just a place to shop; it’s also an art gallery and performance space for the local artists to come and show off their talent. Unlike the smaller markets in the city, Chang Chui is a standout. The big draw is of course the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar airliner right in the middle of it all that adds to its creative and artistic feel. The inside of the plane has been refurbished with antiques, making for an interesting and retro sight. When you’re done exploring, you can even slide out of it. There are around eighteen buildings around the plane made from recycled materials. You can check out the art installations, buy designer goods, and enjoy live music at the bars and restaurants.

This market isn’t as well-known to tourists, this is primarily due to it being situated over 10 km from downtown Bangkok and public transport is rather limited. But if you’ve got some free time and want a different kind of night market experience, Chang Chui is worth a visit.

Aside from the airplane, the market features unique decor, especially the scrap metal sculptures. Here, one can also find a vintage cinema, trendy shops, and plenty of food and drink spots serving craft beer and fancy cocktails. The only downside is its location in Taling Chan, which is a bit further from the main city, but then again, it keeps it less touristy.

The market is well-organized and offers a fancier selection of food and drinks compared to other night markets in Bangkok, making it worth the extra costs.

  • Opening Hours: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm daily.

This night market is a newer addition to the night markets in Bangkok, and it’s conveniently located near the MRT Ratchayothin.

People often compare it to the Jodd Fairs Night Market, but the Green Vintage Ratchayothin Night Market is more popular with the locals. There is also a movie cinema at Major Cineplex Ratchayothin, which is just across the street at Avenue Ratchayothin.

Even though it’s located in the Chatuchak area, it’s not really within walking distance of the well-known Chatuchak Weekend Market.

  • Operating Hours: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM daily

  • Location: RHG9+XG Bangkok, Thailand. You can get there via the MRT Green Line at Ratchayothin Station.
